“Garbage trading is not done. This is an abhorrent method that the global north uses primarily to get rid of the garbage that they do in their own untrue, the Lea Lea Guerrero of Greenpeace: must. "

For more and more pictures of plastic mountains, heaps, the whole villages, the illegal burned-up plastic heaps from Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries The rich north is said to belong to its garbage.

My personal experiences
Since 8 month I live in Asia and it made me thinking day by day. When I order coffee even drinking inside the shop you get a plastic cup, straw and cupholder... when you even say no straw the people dont uderstand why, they are disappointed because its a kind thing for them to give it. But I can see the small steps. In the fancy coffees for foreigners you get straws from metal, bamboo, paper or noodles. Even in big companies the tissues are from recycled material or they support local products. That gives me hope and I think its not to late to be the change you want to see in the world.

                                         Unloading garbage instead of recycling

China has stopped taking plastic waste from industrialized countries in 2018. Since then, much has been sent to Southeast Asia - officially for recycling. But, as Malaysia's Environment Minister Yeo Bee Yin said a few days ago: “The citizens of Great Britain, for example, believe that this material will be sent here for recycling. But it is only dumped as garbage in our country. ”

Many companies send waste to Malaysia without worrying about whether the material is recyclable, whether the partner factories are operational, and whether the country can - or wants to - do this at all. Malaysia sinks into the garbage - and no longer participates.

It sends 3000 tons of plastic waste back to its countries of origin. Environment Minister Bee Yin:

"Like the citizens of all other developing countries, the Malaysians also have a right to clean air, clean water, sustainable resources and a clean environment - just like the citizens of industrialized countries."
